The calm waters, easy beach access and great scenery make our base at Tahunanui Beach the perfect place to have a go at stand up paddle boarding.
Whether you are a first timer or a seasoned professional, you will love your time out in the “Haven”. Arrow Rock (Fifeshire Rock), Haulashore Island, the Boulder Back are all a short paddle from the sand. Plentiful sea birds and marine life such as southern fur seals, eagle and sting rays are common, so there’s always something to keep you coming back for more! Included in the price of the rental is one of our awesome boards, an adjustable paddle, flotation device, leg rope and short instructional session covering -

One-hour hire
Using the New Zealand designed Wananga SUP, you can explore the beautiful Nelson Haven right from the beach at Tahunanui. Following a brief instruction on the conditions and technique, you are free to enjoy a cruisey coastal paddle on the hunt for rays, birds, seals and more. Bring your friends, family or enjoy the serenity and calm blue seas on your own, you decide, either way its awesome!!

One-Hour Hire
Sheltered, very scenic and suitable for all abilities and ages, even the dog. Departing from Paru Paru Rd, behind the Trafalgar centre, paddle under bridges to the River Kitchen for a coffee or just enjoy the alternative view of our beautiful city. The Maitai is the ideal kids SUP party destination. The trip is tidal, but very slow flowing, so times are set to work with the big spring tides! Great location for the BIG TAHUNA Giant SUP.

The BIG Tahuna is a great option for small groups, families schools or businesses that want a real hoot on the water. Heaps of fun for all ages. Prices start from $80 per hour for up to 10 kids (intermediate/junior) or six to eight high school or adults.
